Bergamo, Italy – November 11, 2025
Atalanta BC have sacked head coach Ivan Jurić following a string of poor results that left the Serie A club 14th in the table.
The decision was announced on Tuesday, two days after Atalanta’s 2–1 home defeat to Empoli, their fourth loss in five matches. The club thanked Jurić and his staff for their service and wished them well in future.
Jurić, who took over in June 2024 after Gian Piero Gasperini’s departure, managed only two wins in 11 league games this season. His side also struggled in the Europa League, sitting bottom of their group with consecutive defeats to Sporting Lisbon and Rennes.
Reports in Italy suggest growing tension between the coach and senior players, with criticism over his tactical rigidity and the team’s lack of attacking spark.
Assistant coach Marco Zanchi has been appointed caretaker manager ahead of this weekend’s clash with Udinese, as the club begins searching for a permanent replacement.
Possible successors mentioned include Roberto De Zerbi and Thiago Motta, though neither has confirmed interest.
Jurić leaves after 17 months in charge, having overseen 52 matches with 21 wins, 12 draws, and 19 defeats.
