Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Cleophas Malala has raised concerns about the potential ouster of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula. Speaking at the memorial service for the late Malava MP Malulu Injendi, Malala claimed that Wetang’ula is facing intimidation and is uncertain about his position.

Malala also cautioned President William Ruto against sidelining the Luhya community in key government appointments, especially amid reports of Raila Odinga joining the administration. He expressed concerns that such developments could threaten positions currently held by Luhya leaders, including the Prime Cabinet Secretary role occupied by Musalia Mudavadi.

Additionally, Malala criticized the government’s approach to development projects, alleging that Western Kenya has been neglected despite its strong support for Ruto in the last elections. He highlighted the removal of Amakowa Anangwe as chairman of the University of Nairobi council as part of a broader scheme against the Western region.

These remarks underscore growing concerns within the Luhya community about their representation and the equitable distribution of development projects in the current administration.
