In the early hours of Easter Friday, a disco night turned into a nightmare in Oyugis Town, Homa Bay County, when two individuals tragically lost their lives in an electrocution accident.

The victims, including a minor named Antipus Odongo, were dancing in an open field inside the nightclub in Ragama estate when the tragic incident occurred around 2 a.m. The other deceased, a man whose identity remains undisclosed, also died on the spot. A third individual sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.

According to witnesses, the electrocution happened when the victims came into contact with a faulty electrical installation in the nightclub’s outdoor dance area. Authorities are investigating the cause of the electrical mishap and have confirmed that the venue’s power system is under scrutiny.

Local police have launched an investigation into the incident, and the nightclub’s management has yet to issue an official statement. Meanwhile, residents and friends of the victims are in mourning, and many are calling for stricter safety measures to be implemented in public entertainment spaces.
