President William Ruto on Sunday reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to supporting religious institutions and national unity during a visit to Narok County.
Responding to a request from local preachers for a symbolic “sign of State House” in the region, the President instead committed to funding a Ksh.10 million Pastors’ Plaza in Mosiro, Narok.
“There is a construction you want here… Mosiro plaza for pastors. Because we cannot construct a State Lodge, we will build the plaza for pastors,” Ruto said. “I will look for Ksh.10 million to kick off construction. And if you get stuck, I will send my friends — Senators, governors… There will be a sign of State Lodge.”
The Head of State has previously faced criticism for large donations to churches and religious groups, even as he cautioned against the misuse of church harambees. Despite the backlash, he has remained steadfast in his support for evangelical work and faith-based development initiatives across Kenya.
Ruto Defends Broad-Based Government and Unity with Raila
While addressing the congregation in Narok, President Ruto also defended the broad-based unity government, saying it is essential for peace and progress in the country. He referenced his collaboration with opposition leader Raila Odinga as a testament to Kenya’s commitment to national cohesion.
“We are working hard to unite the people of Kenya. I am proud that Raila Odinga and I are working together to unite Kenyans. We are unapologetic, unashamed about uniting the people of Kenya,” said Ruto.
Corruption Crackdown: E-Procurement Officially Launched
In line with his administration’s anti-corruption pledge, Ruto announced that the long-awaited e-Procurement system has officially rolled out this April. The platform is intended to bring transparency and accountability to government procurement processes and eliminate irregularities in public spending.
“The e-Procurement we have been waiting for years has started this April, as I committed,” he said.
The President’s visit to Narok County underscores a consistent message from his administration: faith, unity, and accountability. As the government continues to push its agenda on these fronts, the public watches closely to see how pledges will translate into long-term policy and impact.
