Police Arrest Two After Group Storms All Saints’ Cathedral in Nairobi

The National Police Service (NPS) has arrested two suspects and launched investigations following an incident in which a group of individuals allegedly stormed the premises of All Saints’ Cathedral in Nairobi and disrupted a meeting being held within the church compound.

In a statement issued on Sunday, June 14, the police said officers responded swiftly after receiving reports of the disturbance that occurred on June 12 and successfully restored order at the scene.

According to the statement, the group attempted to interfere with a meeting taking place in one of the buildings within the cathedral grounds before police officers intervened.

“The National Police Service wishes to provide the public with an update on the ongoing investigation following an incident on 12th June 2026 at All Saints’ Cathedral, where a group of individuals stormed the premises and attempted to disrupt a meeting in one of the buildings within the church compound,” the statement read.

Police said officers were dispatched immediately after reports of the disturbance were received and managed to repel the group, secure the area and prevent further disruption.

“Upon receiving reports of the disturbance, police officers responded promptly to the scene. They successfully repulsed the group, restored order, and secured the area. Two suspects were apprehended and are currently in police custody,” NPS stated.

The service said investigations into the incident are ongoing, with detectives reviewing surveillance footage from the cathedral and surrounding areas to identify additional suspects who may have participated in the disruption.

“Investigations are ongoing, including a thorough review of CCTV footage, with the aim of identifying and apprehending all other individuals involved,” the statement added.

Police have appealed to members of the public who may have information regarding the incident to assist investigators by reporting to the nearest police station or using available emergency communication channels.

The National Police Service reiterated its commitment to conducting a professional and impartial investigation to ensure accountability for all those involved.

“The Service reaffirms its unwavering commitment to serving and protecting the public. This incident will be investigated thoroughly, professionally, transparently, and impartially to ensure that all those involved are brought to justice,” the statement said.

The incident has drawn public attention, with authorities assuring Kenyans that further updates will be provided as investigations progress.

NPS further emphasized that maintaining public order and safeguarding places of worship and lawful gatherings remain key priorities for the security agencies.
