Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya finds himself at the center of a heated political dispute after a dramatic altercation between the county’s Women Representative, Lilian Siyoi, and Agriculture CEC Phanuel Lubano. The two leaders publicly clashed, trading accusations over governance issues in the county.
The confrontation, which reportedly took place during a county function, saw Siyoi accuse Lubano of incompetence and failing to deliver on key agricultural projects. She claimed that the Agriculture CEC had mismanaged county resources, leaving farmers struggling despite promises of improved services.
Lubano, on the other hand, fired back, accusing the Women Rep of engaging in political theatrics instead of working towards county development. He insisted that the Agriculture docket was operating efficiently and dismissed the accusations as baseless.
The incident has sparked debate among residents and political observers, with some seeing it as a sign of deeper divisions within Natembeya’s administration. While the governor has yet to issue an official statement, the fallout from the clash is likely to impact the county’s political stability ahead of the 2027 elections.
Analysts suggest that such public disagreements among county leaders could hinder service delivery, urging leaders to resolve disputes through proper governance channels rather than public confrontations. The political tension in Trans Nzoia remains high as factions within the county government continue to engage in power struggles.
