Following the official merger between the Amani National Congress (ANC) and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), key ANC figures Issa Timamy and Omboko Milemba have secured significant positions within the ruling party.

Issa Timamy, the Lamu Governor and former ANC leader, has been appointed to a senior advisory role within UDA. His position is expected to strengthen the party’s influence in the coastal region and ensure that ANC’s ideals are integrated into UDA’s broader political agenda.

Meanwhile, Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba has also landed a strategic role in UDA, where he is expected to play a crucial part in mobilization and policy development. His appointment aims to maintain ANC’s support base, particularly in Western Kenya, while reinforcing UDA’s presence in the region.

The ANC-UDA merger, announced earlier this year, has been met with mixed reactions. While supporters argue that the move strengthens the ruling coalition, some critics claim it marks the end of ANC’s political identity. Despite this, President William Ruto’s administration continues to position UDA as the dominant political force ahead of the 2027 elections.

With Timamy and Milemba now formally part of UDA, their influence in shaping party policies and regional strategies is expected to grow, further cementing the merger’s impact on Kenya’s political landscape.
