OpenAI is reportedly developing a social media platform centered around AI-generated content and image sharing, according to The Verge. Still in its early stages, the project already has an internal prototype featuring a content feed and tools for users to create and share AI-generated visuals directly within ChatGPT.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is said to be gathering hands-on feedback as the company refines the concept. While it remains unclear whether the platform will launch as a standalone app or be integrated into ChatGPT, sources say the focus is on enabling seamless sharing of high-quality AI content.
The initiative draws some inspiration from Elon Musk’s integration of Grok into X — a move that reportedly stirred competitive interest among tech leaders. Additionally, such a platform could offer OpenAI access to valuable user-generated content, aiding in the further training of its AI models, similar to strategies already adopted by Meta and X.
A spokesperson for OpenAI declined to comment on the project’s future.
