Police in Kisumu East have launched a manhunt for Sebi Obonyo, who is accused of brutally attacking his 24-year-old ex-girlfriend after allegedly being enraged by her new relationship.
According to a report from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the suspect ambushed the woman at her current boyfriend’s residence in Nyakbong’ village, Kamjulu, on Friday at around 4:45 p.m. He reportedly stabbed her twice—once in the left ear and once in the chest—using a sharp object, inflicting life-threatening injuries.
The victim’s screams drew the attention of neighbors, who rushed to the scene and rescued her. She was immediately taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment in critical condition.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the attack was fueled by jealousy, as Obonyo was reportedly unhappy about being left for another man.
Police have confirmed that an operation is underway to track down and arrest the suspect, who fled the scene after the attack.
