A 28-year-old woman is in police custody after she was caught with nearly 300 grams of cocaine in a dramatic sting operation along the Moyale-Nairobi highway.Jane Njeri Muigai was arrested by a multi-agency security team during a routine stop-and-search operation targeting narcotics trafficking along the Northern Frontier corridor. The operation, which took place at a roadblock on a Nairobi-bound passenger bus, was part of an ongoing crackdown on drug smuggling routes between Kenya’s north and the capital.According to a statement released by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Muigai’s suspicious behaviour drew the attention of officers, leading female personnel to isolate her for a more thorough body search. It was during this search that officers discovered 294 grams of cocaine, expertly concealed in her private parts.The suspect is currently being held at Moyale Police Station as anti-narcotics detectives prepare to initiate formal legal proceedings against her.Authorities have reiterated their determination to dismantle drug trafficking networks that have increasingly exploited the Northern Frontier region as a key smuggling route into Nairobi and beyond.“This arrest is a clear warning to drug traffickers. We are vigilant and committed to ensuring such illegal operations are neutralised,” said a senior DCI official.Investigations into possible accomplices and wider connections in the drug trade are ongoing.
