Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has urged President William Ruto not to dismiss Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula from the Kenya Kwanza government.

Speaking at Kananachi village in Kiminini Constituency on Sunday, April 21, Natembeya emphasized that, despite widespread criticism that the two leaders have failed to represent the Luhya community effectively, they should remain in office until 2027.

“Let them eat in peace,” Natembeya stated boldly, adding that the Mulembe nation must remain strategically positioned at the national level.

Natembeya, a vocal critic of the current power structure, declared that the Luhya community, Kenya’s second-most populous, must begin to assert its numbers to secure a better stake in national politics.

He criticized Mudavadi and Wetang’ula for allegedly advancing personal interests rather than championing Western Kenya’s development. However, he insisted their presence in government is a strategic advantage ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“How can such a populous community remain sidelined in national decision-making? Our people must be on the negotiating table,” Natembeya challenged.

He also warned external political players against interfering in Trans Nzoia affairs, saying:

“Those thinking Trans Nzoia can be micromanaged from Nairobi or elsewhere in Rift Valley should know I am in charge here.”

Natembeya further commented on the growing collaboration between President Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga, noting it had rendered Mudavadi and Wetang’ula politically quiet in the so-called broad-based government.
