Tyler Onyango, a promising midfielder currently on loan at Stockport County from Everton FC, has expressed a strong desire to represent the Kenyan national football team, Harambee Stars. In an interview on Citizen TV’s “Sporty Monday” programme, Onyango, who holds dual nationality through his Kenyan father and English mother, shared his admiration for African football and his aspirations to contribute to Kenya’s national team in the near future.

“I love African football. There are so many great African players in the Premier League, and I want to be one of them , playing for Kenya, making a name, and making the fans proud,” the 22-year-old midfielder stated during an interview with British journalist Alan Myers on the ‘Added Time Podcast,’ which aired on Citizen TV.

Having progressed through the youth ranks at Everton FC, Onyango has also featured in their senior squad. He praised the passion of Kenyan fans and expressed his eagerness to give them something to cheer about. “Kenyans are amazing supporters of their national teams. I would love to be part of that journey and give them joy through football,” he added.

Onyango also spoke highly of Benni McCarthy, the former South African striker and current Harambee Stars coach. “Benni is a coach I admire. His experience is top-level, and it would be a dream to play under someone like him,” Onyango remarked.

Veteran British journalist Alan Myers, who has followed Onyango’s career since his youth days at Everton, commended his versatility and skill. “I’ve seen Tyler play since he was eight , he has incredible vision, control, and work ethic,” Myers said.

With the Harambee Stars rebuilding and searching for fresh talents, Tyler Onyango could be a valuable addition to Kenya’s midfield and potentially a future fan favourite.
