Amani National Congress (ANC) nominated Member of Parliament Joseph Khamis Denar has died following a tragic road accident in Nairobi’s Loresho area, sending shockwaves through the political establishment and among his supporters.
According to preliminary reports, the legislator was driving a vehicle registered as KCH 767X when the crash occurred. Witnesses say the impact was severe, and emergency responders who arrived at the scene confirmed that the MP had succumbed to his injuries before he could be rushed to hospital.
Police officers who processed the scene later transferred his body to Lee Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination to determine the full circumstances surrounding his death.
News of Denar’s passing spread quickly, prompting an outpouring of grief from colleagues across the political divide. Leaders from the ANC party described him as a committed, thoughtful, and hardworking representative who championed issues affecting marginalized communities.
“This is a heartbreaking loss. Hon. Denar was a dedicated public servant whose voice will be deeply missed in Parliament and within the ANC family,” said one senior party official.
Members of Parliament also took to social media to mourn the legislator, expressing shock at the sudden tragedy and sending condolences to his family, friends, and constituents.
Police have since launched investigations to establish the cause of the accident, including whether speeding, mechanical failure, or other factors may have contributed to the fatal crash.
Hon. Denar’s death marks yet another blow to the country’s political fraternity, coming at a time when Parliament has been grappling with several recent bereavements. Burial arrangements and official communication from the family are expected to be released in due course.
