Police have arrested 18 suspects in Malindi following a crackdown on criminal gangs accused of terrorising residents in the town and its surrounding areas.
The operation, conducted in the Muyeye and Milano areas, resulted in the recovery of several stolen items, including mobile phones and a television set, as well as crude weapons believed to have been used in the suspects’ criminal activities.
The suspects are currently being held in police custody as investigations continue ahead of their arraignment in court.
Meanwhile, the National Police Service (NPS) has reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property during the festive season, assuring the public of enhanced security measures to ensure peaceful celebrations across the country.
“During this festive season, the National Police Service reiterates its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, ensuring communities across the country celebrate in peace,” the police said.
Police have urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by sharing information that could help prevent crime.
