A family in Kirinyaga County is pleading for public assistance in finding their 14-year-old daughter, who went missing in December 2025.
The girl, Linah Wanyaga, disappeared on December 12, leaving her mother, Cecily Wandia, and the rest of the family in deep distress. Since her disappearance, Wandia has visited police stations, mortuaries, and canvassed nearby villages and towns, but her efforts have so far yielded no leads.
“As a single mother, I’ve been asking everyone about my daughter’s whereabouts, but no one seems to have any information,” Wandia said, breaking down in tears at her home in Kaitheri village, Kerugoya.
Linah had just completed her Grade 9 examinations at Kirigo Primary School and was preparing to join Kiangai Secondary School. Wandia revealed that she had bought all the necessary school items except for a mattress.
“I had bought all the necessary items, except for a mattress. She worked so hard in her exams. Where is she now? I can only see her clothes,” Wandia lamented.
The family said Linah was last seen at Mikinduri Shopping Centre, about two kilometres from Kerugoya town. Wandia expressed fears that her daughter might have been abducted or is being hidden.
“Could it be that my daughter was abducted? Or is someone hiding her? God help me find her. If you’re alive, my daughter, please come home. I’m suffering,” she pleaded.
Authorities and members of the public have been urged to report any information regarding Linah Wanyaga’s whereabouts to the nearest police station.
