A 52-year-old man has been arrested in Nakuru after a viral video emerged showing him making inflammatory remarks and allegedly issuing violent threats related to the 2027 General Election.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, the suspect, identified as Isaiah Murithi Andrew, was apprehended by detectives from Nakuru West in the Shabab area following investigations into the widely circulated video.
The suspect, who describes himself as a traditional healer and a speaker at a local “Bunge la Mwananchi,” is alleged to have made statements that incited unlawful assembly, threatened armed violence, and encouraged resistance against authority.
Investigators say the remarks raised concerns over public safety and national security, prompting law enforcement agencies to launch inquiries that led to his arrest.
Andrew is currently being held in police custody as detectives continue with investigations and interrogation procedures. Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific charges he may face.
The DCI reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order, warning that any acts of incitement, hate speech, or threats that undermine peace and national security will be dealt with firmly and in accordance with the law.
The arrest comes as security agencies intensify monitoring of public statements and online content ahead of the 2027 General Election, amid concerns over political rhetoric that could fuel unrest.
