The SportPesa National Sevens Circuit returns this weekend with the second leg of the 2026 season, as 40 teams converge at Mamboleo Stadium in Kisumu for the Dala 7s tournament scheduled for August 1 and 2.
The two-day competition follows an exciting opening leg at the Prinsloo 7s in Nakuru, where KCB Rugby claimed the title after edging Kabras Sugar 19-12 in the final. The victory sees KCB arrive in Kisumu as defending Dala 7s champions and early leaders in the overall circuit standings.
KCB Rugby headline Pool A, where they will face MMUST, Impala RFC and newly promoted Zetech Oaks, who secured their place in Division One after winning the Division Two title in Nakuru.
Pool B will see Mombasa Sports Club Rugby make their first appearance of the season against Kenya Harlequin, Blak Blad and Menengai Oilers.
Hosts Kisumu RFC have been drawn into Pool C alongside Nondescripts RFC, Daystar Falcons and Mwamba RFC as they seek to capitalize on home support.
Pool D is expected to be the most competitive group, featuring Kabras RFC, Nakuru RFC, Strathmore Leos and Embu RFC, with all four sides aiming to book places in the knockout stages.
Heading into the tournament, KCB Rugby lead the overall standings by three points, followed by Kabras Sugar RFC in second place and Nondescripts RFC in third after the opening leg of the circuit.
The women’s competition is also expected to produce thrilling action.
Prinsloo 7s runners-up Kiambaa Ladies will be looking to continue their impressive form when they face Kenya Harlequin in Pool B. The group also includes Kisumu Dolphins and Kisii Polytechnic.
Meanwhile, defending overall champions Mwamba RFC headline Pool A alongside Impala RFC, Pioneer Ladies and Mwira Eagles.
SportPesa Head of Public Relations Willis Ojwang said the opening tournament had demonstrated the competitiveness of this year’s circuit and expects another exciting weekend in Kisumu.
“Nakuru gave us a taste of just how competitive this season is going to be, and Dala 7s should raise the bar even higher. Kisumu always brings incredible energy, and pairing that with the quality we saw at Prinsloo, we’re expecting a cracker of a weekend at Mamboleo,” said Ojwang.
With valuable circuit points at stake, teams will be looking to make a strong statement as the race for the 2026 SportPesa National Sevens Circuit title gathers momentum.
