The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the colours of ballot papers and corresponding ballot box lids that will be used during the 2027 General Elections.
In a post shared on its social media platforms, the electoral commission said each ballot paper will have a corresponding ballot box lid of the same colour.
The system is designed to make it easier for voters and election officials to identify the six elective positions being contested during the General Election.
According to the IEBC, the colours will be distributed as follows:
- President – White
- Member of National Assembly – Green
- Senator – Yellow
- Governor – Light Blue
- Woman Representative – Purple
- Member of County Assembly (MCA) – Beige
The commission said the matching colours will help voters easily identify the correct ballot box for each elective position and minimize confusion during the voting process.
Six Positions to Be Contested
The 2027 General Elections will see Kenyans vote for candidates seeking six elective positions at the national and county levels.
At the national level, voters will elect the President, Members of the National Assembly, Senators and Women Representatives, while at the county level they will elect Governors and Members of County Assemblies.
Each position will have a separate ballot paper and a corresponding ballot box lid bearing the designated colour.
The IEBC has also continued to encourage eligible Kenyans who have not registered as voters to do so ahead of the elections.
The commission said voter registration is available at constituency offices and Huduma Centres across the country.
With the 2027 General Election approaching, the IEBC is expected to continue releasing information to voters on registration, identification requirements, voting procedures and other preparations for the polls.
The commission has urged Kenyans to familiarize themselves with the electoral process and ensure they are registered in good time to participate in the 2027 elections.
