Police in Machakos County have launched investigations following the discovery of two unidentified bodies and a child’s severed leg in Wandathe village, Kathiani Sub-County.

According to Kathiani OCPD George Kashmir, authorities were alerted by local residents after dogs were reportedly seen feeding on what appeared to be a child’s leg in the area.

The shocking discovery prompted residents and police officers to begin a search operation on Sunday, June 14, 2026, in an effort to locate the remaining parts of the child’s body and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

As the search continued, another resident later reported finding two bodies concealed in nearby bushes. Police officers responded to the scene and confirmed the discovery.

However, efforts to retrieve the bodies were hampered by the difficult terrain in the area. Authorities said recovery operations are ongoing, with officers working to access the location and remove the remains for further examination.

Police have not yet identified the deceased persons, and the relationship between the two bodies and the child’s remains has not been established.

Investigators are expected to conduct forensic examinations and post-mortem analyses to determine the identities of the victims, the causes of death, and whether foul play was involved.

The incident has shocked residents of Wandathe village, with locals calling on security agencies to expedite investigations and provide answers regarding the gruesome discoveries.

Police have urged anyone with information that could assist the investigation to report to the nearest police station.
