Tahmeed Coach Mombasa accident
There has been three reports of accidents involving Tahmeed coach buses in the past 24Hours. In te first accident, On the night of Friday, April 4, 2025, a Tahmeed Coach bus reportedly heading to the company yard at Changamwe was involved in an accident in the Kibarani area of Mombasa County. The bus reportedly developed brake failure while ascending the Kibarani Flyover, causing it to roll backward and collide with a matatu from the Miritini Sacco that was ferrying passengers to Mikindani. The management reported that no passangers were on board the bus during the accident. As a result, 13 people sustained injuries and were transported to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital for treatment.
Eyewitnesses recounted that the bus driver allegedly jumped off the moving vehicle upon realizing the brake failure. One survivor noted, “I was seated at the back of the matatu and noticed a passenger leap out of the bus. I followed immediately. A few seconds later, the bus smashed into the front of our vehicle.”
In response to the incident, Chaani Ward MCA, Manuari Seff Juma, criticized the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) for inadequate vehicle inspections, stating that such accidents could be prevented with proper servicing of vehicles. He also urged drivers to exercise caution, especially during the ongoing rainy season, and called on the Kenya National Highways Authority (KENHA) to improve road maintenance to reduce accident risks.
In a seperate situation on the early morning of April 5, 2025, around 3:00 am, a Tahmeed Coach bus, registration number KCN 075, was involved in an accident in the Gilgil area along the Mombasa-Nakuru highway. The bus, carrying passengers, resulted in injuries to the driver and several passengers, who sustained minor injuries and were provided with medical attention.

n response, the company dispatched a rescue bus to assist the affected passengers. Tahmeed Transport Company emphasized their commitment to passenger safety and confirmed their cooperation with authorities in the ongoing investigation.
On the early morning of April 5, 2025, a Mash Poa bus traveling from Malindi to Port Victoria was involved in a collision along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway. The accident occurred around 5:10 a.m. when a light-duty truck, carrying bread, collided with a parked lorry. The impact pushed the truck onto the main road, causing the Mash Poa bus driver to swerve into a trench to avoid further collision. Tragically, one person from the light-duty truck died instantly, and several bus passengers sustained injuries. Following the incident, the bus driver and conductor reportedly left the scene, leaving passengers stranded as they awaited an alternative bus from Nairobi.
This incident follows a previous accident involving a Mash Poa bus on December 24, 2023, near Taru in Kwale County. In that event, the bus collided head-on with a truck that had veered off its lane, resulting in two fatalities and several injuries.
The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has expressed concern over the rising number of road accidents and has urged all stakeholders in the road transport sector to implement measures that enhance road safety.
