Former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer and 2027 presidential aspirant Patrick Nyambaka Osoi was on Wednesday arraigned at Kahawa Law Courts following his arrest for allegedly forming a group to fight police brutality and defy unlawful orders.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Osoi is the founder of a movement known as Fighting Brutality and Impunity (FBI), which he launched alongside Jackson Kuria Kimani—popularly known as Cop Shakur—and Kimathi Hiram. The group reportedly sought to recruit current and former security officers to resist what they described as “illegal orders” within the police service.
DCI officials warned that Osoi’s activities could inspire rogue officers or civilians to defy security agencies, creating a potential risk to public order.
Viral Post Sparks Police Concern
The case stems from a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), where Osoi announced the formation of the FBI movement.

- DCI investigators argue that the viral traction could mobilize hostile actors and lead to unlawful assemblies or insubordination among security forces.
During the Kahawa court session, the prosecution sought additional time to detain Osoi and his co-accused for further investigations into the movement’s reach and recruitment network.

- Born in 1990 in Vihiga County and raised in Embu, Osoi grew up in a modest background and reportedly sold charcoal and books to support his education.
- He attended Siakago Boys High School and later joined the National Youth Service (NYS) School of Engineering, where he studied automotive engineering.
- His performance earned him recruitment into the Kenya Defence Forces, where he served in logistics and field operations, and later into National Intelligence Service (NIS) roles, specializing in counterterrorism and surveillance.

Osoi has publicly declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election, pledging to champion youth empowerment, anti-corruption policies, and human rights protection.
