A middle-aged man has died after jumping from the second floor of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) offices located at the Lake Basin Mall in Kisumu. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday, October 30, 2025, and has prompted an official investigation by law enforcement agencies.
In a statement confirming the incident, KRA said the man sustained serious injuries after the fall and later succumbed despite efforts to save his life.
“Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) wishes to confirm that an unfortunate incident occurred today, Thursday, 30th October, 2025, at the KRA offices located at the Lake Basin Mall in Kisumu. A middle-aged man jumped from the second floor of the building, sustained serious injuries and succumbed,” the statement read.
The Authority extended its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, expressing regret over the tragedy.
“KRA deeply regrets this incident and conveys heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” it added.
KRA further noted that the matter had been reported to the relevant authorities and that investigations were underway to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal jump.
“KRA is fully cooperating with law enforcement officers to facilitate the ongoing investigations,” the statement continued.
The Authority also took the opportunity to remind members of the public and taxpayers to report any incidents, concerns, or suspicious activities through their nearest Tax Service Office or via the KRA iWhistle platform.
The incident has left shock and sadness among KRA staff and the local Kisumu community as authorities work to establish whether the man’s actions were linked to personal or official matters.
