The Azimio la Umoja–One Kenya Coalition has removed Suna East MP Junet Mohamed as the leader of its Parliamentary Group in the National Assembly and replaced him with Suba South MP Caroli Omondi with immediate effect.
In a statement issued on Monday, Azimio coalition leader Kalonzo Musyoka said the decision was reached during a joint meeting of the Coalition Council and the National Coalition Executive Council.
Kalonzo also announced that several leaders had ceased to be members of the coalition’s top organs after joining competing political coalitions or taking up government appointments.
According to the statement, Mining Cabinet Secretary Ali Hassan Joho, nominated MP Sabina Chege, Abdi Noor Omar Farah and Junet Mohamed are no longer members of the Azimio Coalition Council.
Those who have also ceased to be members of the Azimio National Coalition Executive Council include Wycliffe Oparanya, Adan Keynan, David Pkosing, Mishi Mboko, Abdul Haji, Junet Mohamed, James Opiyo Wandayi, Isabella Wangechi Githinji, Caroline Wanjiru Karugu and Solomon Kuria.
The coalition said it will soon announce replacements as part of an expanded leadership structure.
