Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that insiders working within State House regularly provide him with confidential information about President William Ruto’s plans, saying he learned details of the President’s State of the Nation Address hours before it was delivered.
Speaking during a one-on-one interview with political analyst Herman Manyora, Gachagua alleged that government sources informed him that President Ruto intended to use the address to shift public attention from the country’s current challenges by unveiling a long-term national development agenda.
According to Gachagua, the initial proposal was to introduce a “Vision 2060” before it was reportedly revised to a “post-2030 vision,” though he maintained the overall objective remained unchanged.
“I got information from my sources on Thursday morning. Many people in the civil service are deeply concerned about the direction the country is taking and have chosen to alert me whenever they believe there is danger,” Gachagua said.
He thanked individuals within the civil service, police, National Intelligence Service (NIS), and state corporations whom he said continue to share information with him, arguing that doing so helps preserve his credibility with the public.
Gachagua further alleged that some of the information originates directly from State House, claiming there is growing dissatisfaction among government employees, including staff attached to the Presidential Delivery Service.
He also defended his decision to publicly disclose information received from his sources, saying Kenyans trust him because of his experience serving as Deputy President and his willingness to challenge President Ruto.
“I am one man who doesn’t fear Ruto, no matter how sensitive the information is,” he said, while adding that he verifies the information before making it public to avoid misleading Kenyans.
Hours before the President addressed Parliament on July 30, Gachagua had publicly claimed that Ruto would unveil a Vision 2060 instead of focusing on fulfilling promises made during the 2022 election campaign.
During the State of the Nation Address, President Ruto called for the country to begin charting a new long-term development agenda beyond Vision 2030 while highlighting his administration’s economic achievements.
Gachagua’s remarks are his own claims and have not been independently verified. Neither State House nor the Presidency had publicly responded to the allegations at the time of publication.
