Police in Kiambu County have arrested four suspects in connection with a violent robbery that occurred on July 11 in the Gatuanyaga area. The arrests were made following a targeted operation conducted by officers from Gatuanyaga Police Post, acting on intelligence provided by members of the public.
According to the National Police Service (NPS), the suspects were apprehended at Nexus Club, located within the same area, and are now in police custody.
“The suspects are currently in police custody, undergoing processing pending arraignment in court,” said the NPS in a statement issued Tuesday afternoon.
During the operation, officers recovered a pistol believed to have been used in the robbery, as well as a motorcycle suspected to have been used as the gang’s getaway vehicle.
Police thanked members of the public for their vigilance, saying the tip-off was instrumental in tracing and capturing the suspects.
“We commend the community for their swift and accurate sharing of information, which greatly aided in the success of this operation,” the statement added.
The suspects are expected to face multiple charges, including armed robbery and illegal possession of a firearm. Investigations into possible links with other recent crimes in the area are ongoing.
The National Police Service reiterated its commitment to working closely with the public to combat crime and ensure safety for all residents.
