A tragic incident has shaken Kanorero village in Kangema, Murang’a County, after a woman stabbed her three children, killing two and leaving one hospitalized in critical condition.

The attack happened on Friday morning, when the 38-year-old mother reportedly turned on her children—aged seven, four, and two—over suspicions that her husband was involved in an affair. According to police, the seven-year-old and the two-year-old died instantly from their injuries, while the four-year-old was rushed to Murang’a Level 5 Hospital, where doctors say the child remains in a critical state.

Authorities say that after the attack, the woman tried to stab herself before walking into Kanorero Police Post, where she surrendered. She was later transferred to Kangema Police Station for processing as investigations continue.

The bodies of the two children were taken to the Kangema Sub-County morgue. Meanwhile, medical teams at Murang’a Level 5 Hospital are working to save the life of the surviving child.

Preliminary findings suggest the attack was linked to domestic conflict, with jealousy over a suspected affair believed to be the main trigger. Police have launched a full investigation into the case and indicated that the suspect will undergo a mental health evaluation.

The incident has left the community in mourning, with residents describing it as one of the most painful tragedies to hit the area in recent times. Local leaders have urged families facing disputes to seek counseling and other support services rather than resorting to violence.

Police have assured the public that justice will be sought for the victims as they continue their probe into the shocking case.
