The world of sports joined the nation in mourning the late Raila Amolo Odinga, as Local Organising Committees (LOCs) for the upcoming Pamoja CHAN 2024 tournament in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania sent heartfelt condolences following his death in India.
In a joint statement, the regional LOCs described Raila as “a towering figure whose love for football transcended politics.” Committee leaders Leodegar Tenga of Tanzania, Peter Ogwang of Uganda, and Nicholas Musonye of Kenya expressed their deep sorrow and solidarity with the Odinga family and the people of Kenya during this difficult period.
The statement highlighted Raila’s role as a passionate football enthusiast and regional integration advocate.
