Juja, Kiambu County – A police officer attached to the elite General Service Unit (GSU) Recce Squad has died after being electrocuted while washing his bicycle at the camp in Kimbo, Juja Sub-County, on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

The deceased officer, identified as Police Constable Benedict Juma Oduori, reportedly suffered the fatal electric shock while using an electric car wash machine to clean his personal bicycle at the camp’s car wash area.

According to a police report filed by Chief Inspector Meshack Ikuthu, who is attached to the same camp, the officer was discovered lying unconscious by the sentry on duty, still holding the washing machine.

He was quickly rushed to the camp’s dispensary for first aid before being referred to Kenyatta University Referral Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead while receiving treatment.

A post-mortem examination was conducted at the Kenyatta University Referral Hospital morgue to determine the exact cause of death. Preliminary findings point to electrocution as the likely cause, pending official confirmation from pathologists.

Police officers and colleagues at the GSU camp have since expressed their shock and sorrow at the tragic incident, describing Constable Oduori as a disciplined and hardworking officer who served with dedication.

Authorities are now investigating whether there were any electrical faults or safety lapses in the camp’s car wash area that may have contributed to the accident.

Oduori’s body has been preserved at the hospital morgue awaiting burial arrangements, as the National Police Service (NPS) mourns the loss of one of its own.
