The body of a four-year-old boy who had been reported missing in Komenya Sub-Location, Uriri Sub-County, has been retrieved from River Kuja in Uriri, Migori County, bringing a tragic end to days of anxious searching.
Uriri Sub-County Police Commander Bashir Ali confirmed that the child’s body was recovered on Thursday evening by family members who had been tirelessly searching for him over the past two days.
“The body of the boy was found in River Kuja, and preliminary examination indicates that he drowned,” Ali said.
The police commander added that the body has since been moved to a local mortuary, where it awaits post-mortem examination and burial arrangements.
The incident has left the family and residents of the area deeply shaken, as relatives struggle to come to terms with the sudden and painful loss.
Police have urged parents and guardians to closely monitor young children, particularly around water bodies, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
