Arsenal Maintain Perfect Start as Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham Drop Points

Arsenal maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Sunderland, while Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham all dropped points at home.

Bruno Guimaraes scored a stunning long-range goal before Bukayo Saka converted a late penalty as Arsenal secured their fourth consecutive league victory.

The result moved Mikel Arteta’s side three points clear at the top of the table, with Manchester City able to draw level if they defeat Manchester United in Sunday’s Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

Arsenal were forced to withstand pressure early in the second half after David Raya saved a penalty from Enzo Le Fee.

Just over two minutes later, Guimaraes silenced the Stadium of Light with his first Arsenal goal, firing a spectacular effort into the top corner from distance.

Saka then sealed the victory with the final kick of the match, converting from the penalty spot to maintain Arsenal’s flawless record.

Chelsea Held by Unbeaten Hull

Chelsea’s defensive problems resurfaced as they were held to a 2-2 draw by newly promoted Hull at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues took an early lead when Morgan Rogers drilled a shot into the near post after seven minutes, but Hull responded strongly.

Mohamed Belloumi capitalised on Chelsea’s defensive lapses to score twice before half-time and put the visitors ahead.

Joao Pedro restored parity shortly after the hour mark, firing Cole Palmer’s cross into the top corner.

Chelsea, however, were unable to find a winning goal as Hull extended their unbeaten return to the Premier League.

The result leaves Chelsea five points behind Arsenal.

Chelsea have now scored 16 goals and conceded 12 in five matches against top-flight opposition since Xabi Alonso took charge.

“It’s maybe entertaining, but I hope one day you’ll say it was a boring game and we win and we don’t give these entertaining moments,” Alonso said after the draw.

Liverpool Frustrated by Fulham

Liverpool also dropped points at Anfield after being held to a goalless draw by Fulham.

Andoni Iraola’s side remain unbeaten, but the result was met with boos from the home supporters as Fulham secured their first point under manager Alvaro Arbeloa.

Liverpool’s attacking line, featuring Bradley Barcola, Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, struggled to break down the visitors.

Iraola attributed his team’s lack of attacking sharpness partly to fatigue following their Champions League match against Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

“When you draw, especially at home, you can’t be happy,” Iraola said.

“Today we lacked a bit of freshness and we did not do enough offensively to make the difference.”

The draw leaves sixth-placed Liverpool six points behind league leaders Arsenal.

Tottenham’s Goal Drought Continues

Tottenham’s expensive summer rebuild has yet to translate into goals, with Spurs held to another goalless draw by Everton.

Despite reportedly spending around £300 million on new players, Tottenham remain inside the relegation zone after another frustrating afternoon in front of goal.

The club had hoped their major investment would prevent a repeat of their 17th-place finishes in the previous two seasons, but their attacking struggles continue to raise concerns.

Forest Claim Victory Over Villa

Aston Villa remain in the bottom three after Nottingham Forest secured a late victory to avenge their defeat in last season’s Europa League semi-finals.

Liam Delap, who reportedly cost Forest a club-record £45 million after leaving Chelsea, opened the scoring with a long-range strike into the bottom corner.

Alysson scored Villa’s first league goal of the season to level the match before Igor Jesus struck late to give Oliver Glasner his first victory as Forest manager.

Palace Suffer Late Defeat

Crystal Palace’s difficult start to the campaign continued with a 3-2 home defeat to Ipswich.

Palace were reduced to 10 men after Axel Disasi received a first-half red card, giving Ipswich an advantage.

Zian Flemming then scored his first goal for the Tractor Boys in stoppage time to snatch all three points for the visitors.

Meanwhile, Brentford remain unbeaten after Kevin Schade scored twice in a 2-2 draw away at Bournemouth.

With Arsenal continuing to set the pace and several of their major rivals dropping points, the early Premier League title race is already beginning to take shape.
