President Ruto Tours Eastleigh, Launches Key Development Projects in Nairobi

On March 10, 2025, President William Ruto, accompanied by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and other leaders, commenced a development tour of Nairobi County, making a significant stop in Eastleigh. The visit began with the commissioning of the Kamukunji Technical Vocational College in Kamukunji Constituency. Following this event, the President’s entourage proceeded to the Eastleigh business center, where they addressed enthusiastic residents.

The delegation included Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, Kamukunji Member of Parliament Yusuf Hassan, and other city legislators such as Phelix Odiwuor (Lang’ata), Ronald Karauri (Kasarani), and John Kiarie (Dagoretti South). The weeklong tour marks President Ruto’s first major development initiative in Nairobi since his election in 2022, aiming to commission and inspect projects across the city’s 17 constituencies.

During the Eastleigh stopover, local business leaders, including prominent figures like Eastleigh billionaire Gabrielle Gabi Gabu, were invited to address the gathering, highlighting the administration’s commitment to engaging with community stakeholders.

The President’s itinerary also included visits to the Bangkok Fresh Produce Market and the upgrading of the Desert Pitch in Kamukunji Constituency. He further engaged with students at Zawadi Primary School as part of the School Feeding Programme and assessed progress at the Shauri Moyo B Affordable Housing Project in Makadara Constituency. Additionally, President Ruto launched the Nairobi Rivers Engineering Works in Kamukunji Constituency and concluded the day with a rally at Kamukunji Grounds.

The Eastleigh visit drew massive crowds, reflecting the community’s support and interest in the ongoing development projects. The President’s tour underscores the government’s dedication to urban development and community engagement in Nairobi.
